Check out the trailer to our other documentary “Standing at the Touchlines” where Ashley traveled around Africa recording the continent’s reaction to hosting its first Football World Cup in South Africa.
It was a very different documentary to film. The weather ranged from stinking-hot-humid to freezing-your-nuts off (oh hang on Germany was the same too!). The way we got around, the food we ate and the beer we drank was very different to our German experience. In Germany we either walked, drove on the autobahn or caught any form of public transport going. Whereas in Africa we were reliant on the hospitality of our hosts and the use of their drivers, (ok, their cars tended to be behemoth 4WDs) and the grace of fellow drivers, chickens and pedestrians on the same road.
In Africa we saw poverty but also great spirit. In Germany we witnessed wealth and the wicked sense of humour only Germans’ can have. In Africa Camera 2 ate a chicken’s head. In Germany we lost count of how many wursts she managed to eat between takes. For all their differences though, both experiences were truly amazing.
Anyway enough of all this – watch the trailer and let us know what you think.
(By the way this trailer was kindly put together by a friend who loves editing and as you will see from all his other videos does a really good job!)
