First day of filming in Germany and it was a good day. We went to training and the very friendly Police let us tuck in behind the team bus so that we could find the training ground.
Chris and C2 started running all over the place filming away as we had met this morning and discussed the shots that we were after. I was then interviewed by two of the local press who were very interested in our project and the fact that we were filming in Gottingen.
We met and interviewed Lutz Renneberg who is the man who managed to entice the Matildas and Mexico to stay in Gottingen.
We also found out that Hannover, which is the home of German Rugby union, is 30 minutes away by train or an hour by car, Chris was ecstatic. He is desperate to watch the Bulls play the Sharks this weekend in Super Rugby, but we may struggle to find a venue showing it. Hannover may be our last option.
Found out today that there is a game between the Australian staff and the local media next Wednesday, a comment was made that we may be asked to help make up the numbers. To see Chris play will be worth it, just worried if I have to play on the park as Goalkeeping coach Paul Jones will no doubt be between the sticks.
Back at the hotel we managed to interview Sally Shipard and Leena Khamis about their views of Kyah and Lydia, and both gave us some great material.
It has been a very good first day of filming and so we went back into Gottingen for dinner and also to scout some scenic shots. Again great food tonight at the Villa Cuba, but the portions defeated all three of us, even the big fella and “Camera 2,” which is a serious achievement! Mind you we had eaten a Bratwurst and “Camera 2” had a Kartoffel Puffer only about two hours earlier.
In terms of a first day and the footage we have in the can, it was a great day
